Jan Wutkowski grew up in a military family with many moves over her school years. She received her BAE from the University of Mississippi and a ME from the University of Southern Mississippi.She spent a few years as a school librarian before moving into scientific/medical/engineering research librarianship.  In 1994 Jan moved to Wilmington, from Memphis, to live on a 40’ sailboat.In early 1995, she had a life-changing opportunity to live in Australia, spending an incredible year exploring far and wide.While living in Melbourne she found her life’s calling and attended millinery school studying under one of the world’s most renowned milliners.Returning to Wilmington in early 1996 she spent 12 years as the research librarian for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, while continuing to develop a customer base with her millinery.  In 2005, she opened a retail shop, aMuse: artisanal finery, specializing in custom-made hats and vintage jewelry.During that time she was very involved in Wilmington’s fashion and charity scene and continues to find opportunities to work in arts-related events. She is thrilled to be a part of Thalian Association and looks forward to helping continue its historic legacy.”
