Thalian Association Community Theatre will hold youth auditions for The Sound of Music: Youth Edition, on July 29 at 10 am. Auditions will be held at the Community Arts Center, 120 S. 2nd Street in Downtown Wilmington. The production, directed by Katie Mahn with Music Direction by Samantha Childers and Choreography by Natalie Hopson-Feinberg, runs September 15-24 at the Hannah Block Historic USO/Community Arts Center.

Audition Participants need to prepare 16 bars of a musical theatre-style song to sing. Those wishing to audition should look out for the official audition announcement via our social media platforms or our website at http://www.thalian.org/. If needed, callbacks will be that afternoon at 2 pm. All roles are available. TACT encourages youth with all levels of experience to audition. Everyone is welcome!

Synopsis: The final collaboration between Rodgers & Hammerstein was destined to become the world’s most beloved musical. Featuring the cherished songs, “Climb Ev’ry Mountain,” “My Favorite Things,” “Do Re Mi,” “Sixteen Going on Seventeen” and the title number, The Sound of Music won the hearts of audiences worldwide, earning five Tony Awards and five Oscars. The inspirational story, based on the memoir of Maria Augusta Trapp, follows Maria, an ebullient postulant who serves as governess to the seven children of the imperious Captain von Trapp, bringing music and joy to the household. But as the forces of Nazism take hold of Austria, the von Trapp family must make a moral decision.
