TACT – Wilmington’s Premier Children’s Theatre!

Our Core programs are designed for kindergarden through 12th grade & enhance learning skills not only in the Arts, but also History, Social Studies, Math and English. TACT  is a place where children can be themselves, a place where individuality is encouraged and using your voice is celebrated! It is an environment where a child can grow, explore, imagine, and learn in a welcoming home that fosters self-esteem, inspires innovation, and promotes leadership.   As Thalian Association celebrates our 225th anniversary year we recognize the impact we have had on the growth of arts education throughout the decades.  We offer our students opportunities to work with professional artists and technicians who are leaders in their fields.

We are proud of our students and honored by our alumni.

 What we offer:

TACT offers classes in drama, voice, music, dance, and visual arts throughout the academic year, and camps during the summer, workshops, field trips, and residencies to school and community groups, on site and on location.

Why We Do What We Do:

We donʼt just want to turn out great theatre artists, we also want to turn out great doctors and lawyers, teachers and bankers. It doesnʼt matter if you want to pursue the arts as a vocation or as a hobby.  TACT is about developing contributing, collaborative and thoughtful members of our community. Arts Education Partnership, arguing for the importance of arts in schools, says various art forms benefit students in different ways.

Drama:

Helps students understand social relationships, complex issues and emotions; improves concentrated thought and story comprehension.

Music:

Improves math achievement and proficiency, reading and cognitive development; boosts SAT verbal scores and skills for second-language learners.

Dance:

Helps with creative thinking, originality, elaboration and flexibility; improves expressive skills, social tolerance, self-confidence and persistence.

Visual arts:

Improve content and organization of writing; promote sophisticated reading skills and interpretation of text, reasoning about scientific images and reading readiness.
