Executive Director

TOM BRIGGS (Executive Director) is a director, librettist, educator and administrator who, for 18 years, served as director of the theatrical division of The Rodgers & Hammerstein Organization in New York City. He has served on the faculties of Union College, New York University, Nicholai College, the National Theatre Institute, and was a founding director of the National Theater Workshop of the Handicapped.


As the Producing Artistic Director of St. Bart’s Playhouse in New York City, Tom presented over 25 productions, many of which he also directed. His Broadway credits include creating the stage adaptations of State Fair, the final show produced by the legendary David Merrick, and Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella starring Eartha Kitt and Jamie-Lynn Sigler. He is currently writing the stage adaptation of the MGM motion picture Easter Parade.

Tom is proud to serve on the board of Phame Academy of Fine Arts in Portland, Oregon, a non-profit organization dedicated to enriching the lives of developmentally challenged citizens of all ages through participation in performing and fine arts. He currently serves as a Grants Consultant for the Kurt Weill Foundation for Music and as Creative Consultant to The Rodgers & Hammerstein Organization.
 

Pat Hingle Scholarship

The Pat Hingle Scholarship in Theater Arts is administered annually by Thalian Association, the Official Community Theater of North Carolina.

The scholarship is awarded to a deserving high school senior who has proven to be a serious student of the theater and plans to pursue a theatrical education after graduation.

Bluegrass Festival Nears!

The Wall Street Journal proclaims her the Queen of Bluegrass... and she's headed straight for Wilmington!

 

Rhonda Vincent will headline the Thalian Association's 8th  Annual Southern Coastal Bluegrass Festival at Battleship Park on September 18th & 19th,  2010.
